Joystick Revolution – Script

Writing the script for an audio documentary doesn’t necessarily require you to have your interviews done. When I write scripts, if I don’t have all the interviews completed, I’ll frame the narration around what I expect the person will say. There’s never a guarantee that it’ll fit perfectly, but it allows me to write up a general overview of how the documentary will play out and ensure everything is prepared in advance of me needing it.

That’s what I’ve done with this script. I’m fortunate enough to have spoken to all of my interviewees in the past, so despite my interview with Angus Dick not yet having happened, I can make estimates as to what will be said based on what I know of him.

The rest of the script, like these interview chunks, will be constantly adapted up until the final draft of the documentary as a whole, depending on what sounds better and what makes more structural sense as I collect all of my interview clips and start to assemble it. At the time of writing it’s the first draft, but once Joystick Revolution is published you’ll see it as the final script.
